World Blood Donor Day

World Blood Donor Day

Celebrating the people behind every lifesaving donation

Most blood donors never know whose life they have helped save. A single donation may support someone recovering from surgery, receiving cancer treatment, experiencing complications during childbirth or fighting for their life after a serious accident. Behind every successful transfusion is a person who chose to give without expecting anything in return.

Observed annually on 14 June, World Blood Donor Day celebrates voluntary, unpaid blood donors while recognising the vital role they play in healthcare systems around the world. The campaign also highlights the ongoing need for regular blood donations to help ensure hospitals have a safe and reliable supply whenever patients need it.

Every donation is an opportunity to give someone hope during one of the most difficult moments of their life. By becoming a blood donor, encouraging others to donate or simply learning more about the process, we can all play a part in helping save lives and strengthening our healthcare system.
