SADC Malaria Day

SADC Malaria Day

Know the risk before malaria strikes

Malaria is preventable and treatable, but delays in recognising symptoms and receiving treatment can have serious consequences. In malaria affected areas, taking precautions and knowing when to seek medical attention are important parts of protecting yourself and your family.

Symptoms can include fever, chills, headache, sweating, weakness and other flu like symptoms. Since malaria can become severe, particularly in young children and other vulnerable people, suspected cases should be assessed by a healthcare professional promptly.

SADC Malaria Day highlights the importance of regional cooperation in preventing, detecting and treating malaria. Communities also play an important role by reducing exposure to mosquito bites and seeking care when symptoms develop.
