World Food Safety Day

World Food Safety Day

Every safe meal begins long before it reaches the table

A meal should bring people together, not put their health at risk. Behind every plate of food is a journey that includes farming, transport, preparation and storage, with each step playing an important role in keeping food safe to eat.

Observed on 7 June, World Food Safety Day highlights the importance of preventing foodborne illnesses through safe food handling and responsible practices across the entire food supply chain. The campaign reminds governments, businesses and consumers that food safety is a shared responsibility.

Simple habits such as washing hands before preparing food, storing ingredients correctly and cooking food thoroughly can significantly reduce the risk of illness. By making food safety part of our daily routines, we help protect ourselves, our families and our communities.
