Substance misuse rarely affects just one person. Its impact can ripple through families, friendships and communities, leaving many people feeling uncertain about where to turn for help. Breaking the silence is often the first step towards prevention, treatment and recovery.
Observed from 22 to 27 June, SANCA Drug Awareness Week promotes greater understanding of substance use disorders while encouraging education, early intervention and access to support services. The campaign also works to reduce stigma, recognising that compassion and informed care are essential to helping people on their recovery journey.
Building healthier communities starts with honest conversations and shared responsibility. By learning about the risks of substance misuse, supporting those in need and encouraging access to professional care, we can help create environments where recovery is possible and healthier futures can take shape.
