HASA Awareness August

Bone Marrow Stem Cell Donation and Leukemia Awareness Month

A match could mean a new beginning

For many people diagnosed with leukaemia and other serious blood disorders, treatment depends on finding a compatible stem cell donor. While thousands of patients search for a match every year, many never find one, making donor registration an essential part of improving survival rates.

Observed throughout August, Bone Marrow Stem Cell Donation and Leukemia Awareness Month encourages greater understanding of blood cancers while highlighting the lifesaving role stem cell donation can play. The campaign also promotes donor registration and helps dispel common misconceptions about the donation process.

Every new donor registered increases the chance that someone, somewhere, will find the match they have been waiting for. By learning about stem cell donation and sharing accurate information, we can help expand donor registries and offer hope to more patients and their families.
