This year, at its annual conference, the Hospital Association of South Africa inaugurated its Excellence in Healthcare Awards by recognising four recipients who have not only performed their medical responsibilities with excellence but have also enhanced their professions, addressed fundamental and critical challenges facing it, and have thereby made considerable contributions to the wellbeing of the country and all its citizens.

The recipients were Dr Sharon Vasuthevan (Life Healthcare), Fasie Smith (Lenmed), Estelle Coustas )Mediclinic South Africa), and Dr Shannon Nell (Netcare) who was unfortunately not able to attend the conference.
