And More HASA Member News: Urology Hospital

Urology Hospital in Pretoria, a proud HASA member, has reached an extraordinary milestone: 5,000 robotic surgeries. And they’re celebrated in a way that could save lives.

As part of Men’s Health Month, they hosted free workshops and PSA screenings to raise awareness about prostate cancer, the most diagnosed cancer among South African men.

The need is urgent:

  • Black South African men face a 1 in 4 lifetime risk.
  • Mortality rates in the region are 2.7x higher than the global average.
  • Cases have surged by 60% over the past 15 years.

Since introducing the da Vinci robotic system in 2013, Urology Hospital has trained 32 robotic surgeons and built a 15-strong specialised theatre team combining world-class technology with South African expertise.

By pairing innovation with outreach, they show how HASA members invest in life-changing care, tackle inequities in health access, and work towards universal health coverage.
