Nedbank Old Mutual Budget Speech Winner – Delay NHI

Every year to coincide with the Budget Speech, students participate in the Nedbank Old Mutual Budget Speech Competition. This year, postgraduates were asked “How ready is SA for the NHI?” The winning entry concludes: “the adoption of the NHI should be delayed until other related issues are addressed, amongst others; the lack of human resources, the negative impact the policy will have on the poor and the lack long- term financial guarantee to finance the scheme.” Download the winning essay.196PG Xolani Mazomba
