Quality Measurement and Reporting in the South African Private Hospital Industry

Insight Actuaries and Consultants, September 2017

Healthcare providers locally and globally face the need to measure, report on, and improve the quality of care delivered. In this paper, the researchers explore frameworks that inform hospital quality reporting in jurisdictions other than South Africa, for the purpose of guiding future measurement and public reporting of care offered by private hospitals in this country. They have drawn from international literature, interviews with local stakeholders and international experts, and their own observations and experience in the hospital and broader healthcare industry.
