Minister Motsoaledi Speaks On Scrapping The Medical Schemes Tax Credit

Over much of last week, Dr Paula Armstrong of competition and economics consultancy Econex was interviewed extensively in the media after publishing a paper that examined what effect the proposed scrapping of tax credits on scheme premiums would have on medical scheme members. Her conclusion was that 1.9 million could find the scrapping made their medical scheme membership unaffordable so that they would drop out of their schemes and add to the already over-burdened public health system. In this PowerFM interview, the Minister of Health discusses the report and its findings, among other matters.
