The Hospital Association of South Africa learned yesterday of the sad and untimely passing of Dr Humphrey Zokufa. We wish to extend our condolences to his family, his colleagues, his friends, and the institution he headed, the Council for Medical Schemes.
Healthcare has lost a committed, energetic, and knowledgeable servant, and will be the poorer for his passing. In particular, the medical schemes sector has lost a leader who contributed much to it through his role in the institution he recently joined and led, and his custodianship of the Board of Healthcare Funders.
His passing was unexpected and we can only hope and pray that his family find the support they must so desperately need. We thank Dr Zokufa for his contribution, his leadership, and his commitment to healthcare delivery for all South Africans.
